The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway No. 2 'Countess' is a 0-6-0 side tank locomotive.
History[]
Countess was built by Beyer, Peacock and company in 1902 as builders number 3497 for the 2 ft 6 in narrow gauge Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway which was taken over by the Great Western Railway in the 1923 grouping act and then taken over in 1948 by British Railways who closed the line in 1956. The Railway was turned into a heritage railway in 1963 gradually extending along the original route. Countess operated on the railway until her boiler ticket expired in 2021. The current status of the engine is unknown.
