The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway No.1 'The Earl' is a 0-6-0 side tank locomotive.
History[]
The Earl was built by Beyer, Peacock and company in 1902 as builders number 3496 for the 2 ft 6 in narrow gauge Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway which was taken over by the Great Western Railway in the 1923 grouping act and then taken over in 1948 by British Railways who closed the line in 1956. The Railway was turned into a heritage railway in 1963 gradually extending along the original route. The Earl was then sent to the Vale of Rheidol Railway in 2018 to be overhauled and returned to the W&LLR in 2021. After the overhaul, it was painted into its Great Western Green livery for the first time in 80 years and now operates excursions today.
