Owain Glyndŵr is a 2-6-2 side tank locomotive.

History[]

Owain Glyndŵr was built in 1923 at Swindon Works by the Great Western Railway for use on the Vale of Rheidol Railway in Wales. Owain Glyndŵr was numbered 7 under the GWR and in 1948 British Railways took the GWR over and Owain Glyndŵr was renumbered 98007 but never carried the number. The Vale of Rheidol Railway was the last steam operated line operated by British Railways, No.7 became the first loco on the line to be converted to oil burning in 1978. In the mid 1980s the VoR became a heritage railway and Owain Glyndŵr was withdrawn from service in 1997 for overhaul and returned to service in 2018 being converted back to coal burning.
