The Lyon - No. 1 ready for trip to Reno for use at the Reno Reduction works.

Virginia and Truckee No. 1 named Lyon is a standard gauge 2-6-0 "Mogul" type steam locomotive, built in 1869 by the H. J. Booth and Company, Union Iron Works, San Francisco for the Virginia and Truckee Railroad.

On November 12, 1869 it arrived into Gold Hill on the first revenue train.

In 1880, it was retired from service and was stored in Carson City Engine House. In May 1887, it was moved outside where it was dismantled and finally in 1890, it was Scrapped.

In 1995 a replica of the locomotive began construction at the Iowa Trolley Park in Clear Lake, IA. The initial intention was to donate it to the Nevada State Railroad Museum after completion, but as of early 2020 the unfinished replica was given to the NSRM for completion.[1] A Facebook page has been created to announce news about and fundraisers for the replica.[2]
