In 1983, the engine appeared in the made for TV movie: The Winds of War. In 1989, the locomotive appeared in a television commercial for the Pontiac Grand Am. The 2 was extensively overhauled from 2001-2006, then placed back in operation. It is a 2-6-2 prairie type built by Baldwin in 1922. In October 2021, the VC2 became due for another overhaul in accordance with federal regulations, and was taken out of service. As of April 2022, the locomotive is currently well on its way to being disassembled. The cab and several other major components were removed in March 2022. The locomotive has been disassembled down to a bare boiler to perform a hydrostatic test Completed in june 2022, the tubes will be removed from the locomotive, and measurements will be taken to make sure the boiler is sound. The crew expects the boiler to be in acceptable condition to continue operating, and the running gear will receive significant attention. The crew hopes to return the locomotive to service as quickly and thoroughly as possible. The crew (I, NarrowGaugeRailfan315 am part of it) needs to raise $200,000-$250,000 to complete the restoration, and as of October 2022 we have raised $223,000 so if you would like to suppourt us please do so by giving online (become a part sponsor will ya ;) )Donate to the second centry overhaul here
