Union Pacific No. 4016 is a 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy" that used to work on the Union Pacific Railroad.

History[]

Built in 1941 by ALCO it used to haul fast freight on heavy grades, particularly on the Ogden-Wasatch district between Utah and Wyoming, but also over Sherman Hill just west of Cheyenne, WY. It ran in service until 1959, when #4016 was retired along with the other Big Boy Locomotives.

It was scrapped shortly after.
