Locomotive Wiki

Union Pacific No. 2005 is a preserved class MK-1 2-8-2 built by Baldwin in 1911 for the Oregon Short Line Railroad Co. as #1105.

It was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as part of the second order of 57" drivered Lightweight Mikado's for freight service on the Oregon Short Line Railroad Co. as their #1105, a Coal burner. The locomotive was rebuilt the next year with a Schmidt superheater as all others of the class were. Sometime later it was renumbered to #2005 in 1915 and was sold to the Union Pacific in 1936. The first of the group left the Roster in 1947 although most lasted well into the 1950's. The #2005 was last used in the early 1950's prior to being held into Storage.

In October 1958, it was retired and it was Donated to the City of Pocatello where it placed on static display at the Ross Park in Pocatello, ID.
