The Union Pacific Class C-57 were a series of 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type steam locomotive that operated on the Union Pacific Railroad.

History[]

These engines were built as Vauclain compounds in 1900 by Burnham, Williams & Co. (#1640-#1679), later incorporated as Baldwin Locomotive Works (renumbered #420-#459 in 1915).

They spent most of their life hauling freight trains.

When diesel locomotives started to replace steam in the 1950s most of these engines were sold for scrap, but there are a few of these engines that were saved for preservation.
