The Tokyu 9020 series is a Japanese city commuter electric multiple unit operated by the Tokyu Corporation since November 2018 on the Tokyu Ōimachi Line.
History[]
- Main article: Tokyu 2000 series
The 9020 series sets were converted from surplus 2000 series sets originally operated on the Den-en-Toshi Line; the sets were replaced by 2020 series sets in 2018. The sets were then repurposed for use on the Ōimachi Line by removing five of the cars from each of the ten-car sets and reforming each of the cars while the unused cars were scrapped; the first set, 9023, initially numbered 2003, was introduced into service on the Ōimachi Line on 16 November 2018. The second converted set, 9022, entered service on 11 February 2019; 2003 was then renumbered 9023 on the same day. All three sets re-entered service on the Ōimachi Line on 18 March 2019.
The sets are planned to be resold to the Seibu Railway some time in 2025 as part of their "Sustainable Train" initiative.
Design[]
The 9020 series cars used a contemporary design featuring a flat front and a gangwayed door. Unlike the 2000 series sets the 9020 series cars now feature a multicolored front band on their cabs to signify their use on the Ōimachi Line.
Specifications[]
Construction of the cars is of stainless steel. As these were based on the 2000 series sets these are based on the 9000 series cars operated by the same railroad; however the mechanicals of the set have been heavily overhauled. The sets use two types of Mitsubishi pure SiC variable frequency drive traction systems.
