The Toei 6500 series is a Japanese city commuter electric multiple unit operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei) on the Toei Mita Line since May 2022.
History[]
The 6500 series sets were designed to supplement the 6300 series trains on the Toei Mita Line as well as to replace early batches of the 6300 series sets. A total of thirteen sets are slated to be produced; the first train was delivered in November 2020. As of 2022 eight sets have been produced; these entered service on 14 May 2022.
Design[]
The 6500 series cars use a contemporary design featuring a flat front and LED top-mounted headlights.
Specifications[]
Construction of the cars is likely of an aluminum alloy. The train was designed with a barrier free design in mind. Free Wi-Fi is slated to be offered on-board.
The sets use a hybrid silicon carbide-based MOSFET system variable frequency drive traction system manufactured by Mitsubishi; these produce a hissing sound.
