The Toei 10-300R series (read as 10,300R) was a short-lived Japanese city commuter electric multiple unit operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei) from January 2005 to February 2017 on the Toei Shinjuku Line.
History[]
The 10-300R series sets were designed as a way to effectively utilize old cars which had aged. To produce the sets, a total of 36 10-000 series intermediate cars manufactured in 1986 and 1988 were removed from the sets, with 12 cab cars manufactured for the six sets by Tokyu Car Corporation. Operations began on 20 January 2005 with a "provisional" formation as the intermediate donor cars had yet to be renumbered or refurbished; when the 10-300 series sets did enter operation in May 2005 the 10-300R series donor cars were refurbished to more modern standards and renumbered from 2005 to 2006.
The sets' numbers were 10-310 to 10-360, essentially making these the first six 10-300 series sets (numbering for the 10-300 series sets began from 10-370). With the introduction of the fourth batch of 10-300 series sets the 10-300R series sets were slowly retired, starting with set 10-340. The last set in service, 10-330, was retired on 14 February 2017; special stickers were affixed to the front of the car to signify the impending retirement of the sets. No 10-300R series cars have been preserved.

Trivia[]

- The 10-300R series sets were the only sets on the Toei network which were not given any sort of Type B or Type C refurbishment before their retirement.
