A Tateyama builder's plate.

Tateyama Heavy Industries was a Japanese locomotive builder.

The history of the company can be traced back to 1934, when Motoe Machinery Co. Ltd. was founded, founded by engineer Tadayoshi Motoe and was a subsidiary of the Nomura zaibatsu, who owned banks and textile factories. In 1939, Motoe joined the Japan Railroad Vehicle Manufacturing Factory Association, as well as the establishment of the Vehicle Control Organization. In 1943, the company renamed itself to Tateyama Heavy Industries.

The company was short-lived however, and by 1952 it was sold to Doei Sangyo; in 1953, the company produced its last steam locomotives and closed.

All of the locomotives Tateyama was known to have produced were light tank locomotives which used saturated steam intended for industrial use; Tateyama was not known to have produced tender locomotives or larger locomotives.
