The Talyllyn Railway’s No. 9 "ALF" is an 0-4-0DM Hunslet diesel engine built by the Hunslet Engine Company in 1950. They were originally owned by National Coal Board before being acquired by the Talyllyn Railway to work the maintenance trains. It was named after Alf Robens, chairman of the National Coal Board.

Loyal, strong and always running well - Alf is a mainstay of the Talyllyn Diesel fleet.
