St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern No. 635 is a class 629 4-6-0 "Ten Wheeler" type steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in June 1889 (serial number 10070) for the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railway.
It is one of 30 locomotives built by Baldwin from January 1889 - December 1890 for the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railroad to haul iron ore from Iron Mountain, MO, to St. Louis. Then in 1883, the railroad was acquired by Jay Gould and, in 1917, merged into the Missouri Pacific. The 629 class ten-wheelers were then re-classified as TN-61s and renumbered from 629 - 657 to 2701 - 2727.
It was renumbered #2707 when it joined the MoPac, then in 1947 the locomotive was donated to the Museum of Transportation, where it remains on public display today.
