Southern Pacific No. 9504 was an EMD SD45X diesel locomotive built by the Electro-Motive Division for the Southern Pacific Railroad in February 1971.[1]

Southern Pacific No. 9504 was manufactured in February 1971 as an EMD demonstrator unit where it was numbered by the Electro-Motive Division as 4202, it was eventually delivered to the Southern Pacific Railroad in December 1972 and was classified by the Southern Pacific as a EF642-2.[1]
No. 9504 was retired from active service on the Southern Pacific Railroad in June 1984,[1] last photographed in 1987[2] and it was sadly scrapped.[1]
