Southern Pacific No. 7561 was an SD45R diesel locomotive built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad in August 1966.

History[]

Southern Pacific No. 7561 was manufactured in August 1966 by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad and it had entered service on the Southern Pacific that same year in 1966.

When it was first built, it was first painted in Southern Pacific's "Bloody Nose" livery and originally numbered as 8824 and was classified by the Southern Pacific as an EF636-1, but it would eventually be renumbered to 7561 later on in its career and would later be repainted into the "Kodachome" livery of the failed merger between Southern Pacific and Santa Fe in 1993.

It would be retired from service on the Southern Pacific and was given to Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad where it was renumbered to 452 and was even rebuilt into an EMD SD45-2 and then rebuilt again into an EMD SD40-3, it is still operating as of 2020.
