Southern Pacific No. 7550 was an SD45R diesel locomotive built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1968.
History[]
Southern Pacific No. 7550 was built in 1968 and entered service on the Southern Pacific Railroad the same year in 1968.
When it was first built, it was first built as SD45 #8984, but due to the massive 20-cylinder engines causing them to have a very bad fuel mileage and coupled with the crankshaft failures, it was rebuilt into an EMD SD45R and renumbered from 8984 to 7550.
It would be retired from service on the Southern Pacific and was sadly scrapped.
