Southern Pacific No. 7547 was an SD45R diesel locomotive built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad.

History[]

Southern Pacific No. 7547 was built in March 1969 and entered service on the Southern Pacific Railroad the same year in 1969, where was given its first number of 9029 and classified as an EF636-4.

It was first built, as an EMD SD45 and was rebuilt as an SD45R due to the massive 20-cylinder engines causing it to have a very bad fuel mileage and coupled with the crankshaft failures. After being rebuilt, the locomotive was renumbered to 7547.

It was eventually retired from service and was sold to Montana Rail Link, now numbered as #321.
