Southern Pacific No. 4450 is a class GS-4 4-8-4 "Northern" type steam locomotive built by the Lima Locomotive Works in March 1942 for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a particular member of the 1942 batch of GS-4 4-8-4 "Northern" type steam locomotives.

History

Southern Pacific No. 4450 was built in March 1942 by the Lima Locomotive Works as a particular member of the 1942 batch of Southern Pacific Class GS-4 type steam locomotives.

It ran on passenger runs from 1942-1956 until it was later on retired from revenue service in 1956 and it would wind up being scrapped leaving only one member, #4449 behind.

Southern Pacific No. 4450's 6-Chime Whistle.

Its whistle had survived into preservation and was one time reused by the Cass Scenic Railroad in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, and would later be used on Reading, Blue Mountain and Northern No. 425.
