Southern Pacific No. 4450 (also nicknamed "Huff") was among one of the 150 SD9s built by the Electro Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad in April 1954, it was also one of the 515 EMD SD9s built by the Electro Motive Division (EMD).

History

Southern Pacific No. 4450 was constructed in April 1954, and it was delivered to the Southern Pacific Railroad that same year in 1954. When it was first delivered it was numbered as Southern Pacific No. 5363 and it had soon entered service in 1954, it would later be renumbered to #3822 in 1965 during the Southern Pacific's 1965 renumbering scheme.

And although it had done a lot of service throughout its life, retirement was inevitable for Southern Pacific No. 4450 and it was retired in 1998 and it was donated to the Golden Gate Railroad Museum where it was left to rust within it's time in storage until it was then taken to a scrapyard, it then sat in that scrapyard for a considerable amount of time until its fate had came and went, when No. 4450 was then sadly cut up into pieces and was sold for scrap metal in August 2013.

• Even though No. 4450 was scrapped, several other EMD SD9s are still in service to this day.
• Southern Pacific's SD9 No. 4450 shares the same number with Southern Pacific's GS-4 No. 4450.
• No. 4450's sister No. 4451 survives today.
