Southern Pacific No. 4418 was a GS-3 class 4-8-4 Steam Locomotive built in 1937 by the Lima Locomotive Works for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
History[]
It was built for high-passenger service on the SP during the pre-war era, most notably the Coast Daylight.
In later years after being replaced by newer GS class engines, it was repainted black with a silver pilot and running board, and was reassigned to the San Jose-San Francisco commuter trains, freight service, and made occasional appearances on the San Joaquin Daylight.
After retirement in 1957, it was scrapped.
