Southern Pacific No. 1529 was an EMD SD7 that was built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad.

History[]

Southern Pacific No. 1529 was built for the Southern Pacific Railroad and was delivered to the Southern Pacific Railroad that same year.

When it was built, it was first numbered as 5312, until in 1965, it was renumbered as 2719 until 1973 when it was renumbered as 1419 to avoid conflict for the new MP15 switcher units. The locomotive entered the G.R.I.P. program and emerged as SP 1529 on April 10th, 1980.

The locomotive was later retired from active service and #1529 as well as five other units (#1500, #1510, #1525, #1531 and #1535) were sold to the San Joaquin Valley Railroad at Fresno, California on November 3rd, 1995.
