Southern Pacific No. 1528 was an EMD SD7 that was built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1953.

History[]

Southern Pacific No. 1528 was built in 1953 for the Southern Pacific Railroad and was delivered to the Southern Pacific Railroad that same year in 1953.

It was first built as No. 5335 and given the classification of DF-118, in 1965, No. 5335 was renumbered from 5335 to 2742 and reclassified as ES615-4, then it was renumbered from 2742 to 1442 and retained its classification of ES615-4. In 1980, it was rebuilt into what became No. 1528 and was reclassified as an ES615R-1.

It remained in service on the Southern Pacific until it would be retired from service and was sadly scrapped.
