Southern Pacific No. 1524 was an EMD SD7 that was built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Southern Pacific Railroad in September 1953.

History[]

Southern Pacific No. 1524 was manufactured in September 1953 for the Southern Pacific Railroad and was delivered to the Southern Pacific Railroad that same year in 1953.

When it was built, it was first numbered as 5325, until in 1965, it was renumbered as 2732 until 1973 when it was renumbered as 1432 to avoid conflict for the new MP15 switcher units. The locomotive entered the G.R.I.P. program and emerged as SP 1524 on March 4th, 1980.
