Southern Pacific No. 1218 is an ALCO S-6 built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) for the Southern Pacific Railroad in April 1955.

History

Southern Pacific No. 1218 was constructed in April 1955, and it was delivered to the Southern Pacific Railroad that same year in 1955, when it was delivered it was first numbered as #1065 but would be renumbered to #1218 in 1965.

No. 1218 had served well on the Southern Pacific but was eventually retired from active service on the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1980 and was purchased by Foster Farms and used at their Livingston, California facility, then later relocated to Burrel, CA after it was retired. No. 1218 was later donated to the Niles Canyon Railway in 2004 and was moved to the Niles Canyon Railway in September 2005.

As of today, No. 1218 is currently undergoing a restoration at the Niles Canyon Railway in Sunol, California.
