South African Railway No. 980 is a Class 7 4-8-0 built in 1893 by Neilson & Co. as #332 for the South African Railways.

This type of locomotive was used as a main goods locomotives for the last 20 years of the Cape Government Railways, the design prepared in 1890 by H.M. Beatty.

Today it's on display at a Railway Station in Klerksdorp, Northwest, South Africa.

Trivia[]

  • All these locomotives in this series were originally used saturated steam, had plate frames and Stephenson's link motion.
  • Another 4-8-0 locomotive with the same number was preserved in Australia Queensland Government Railways No. 980.
