The ATSF 885 Series was a class of 2-8-2 "Mikado" type steam locomotive, this class was built by Burnham, Williams & Co. for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

History[]

Beginning[]

In the 1900s, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway needed more steam locomotives for their usage within the United States to haul more freight across their lines. So the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway had asked Burnham, Williams & Co. to build some steam locomotives for them, so Burnham, Williams & Co. had eventually drew up the plans for the next locomotive that would be built for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

Construction[]

Enter the ATSF 885 Series, these locomotives were built for usage on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway to haul more freight across their own lines, the ATSF 885 Series had a total of 15 examples built by Burnham, Williams & Co. between 1902-1903.

Withdrawal[]

Withdrawal of the class had occurred, and every single one of them was scrapped, thus rendering them extinct.
