The CR151 (Contract CR151) is a Singaporean rapid transit electric multiple unit scheduled to be operated by the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit from 2030 on the Cross Island Line.

History[]

The CR151s are intended for use on the Cross Island Line and are the first rolling stock to be used on that line. Built by CRRC Qingdao Sifang in Shandong, China, the CR151s are scheduled to be delivered from 2027 onwards and will undergo testing before the line opens in stages from 2030. A total of 44 sets were ordered with potential options for 11 more.

Design[]

Car bodies are constructed of welded aluminum. The sets are painted in a unique livery, featuring a white body and incorporating neon green in many places to reflect the line's color on the map. The Land Transport Authority's logo is emblazoned on the front of the detrainment doors as well as the sides of the cars. A warm orange LED display on the top left of the cab cars shows the train's running number.

Specifications[]

The CR151s are a type of fully-automated rolling stock on the Singapore rapid transit network. These are likely to use in-house CRRC Sifang variable frequency drives. These are the first MRT trains to take power from overhead that do not operate on the North East Line, using 1,500 V DC power from an overhead conductor rail.
