No.107 is a green 0-8-0/Dh 2 mainline diesel locomotive.

History[]

No.107 was built in 1959 by Hudswell Clarke and company for the Sierra Leone Government Railway (SLR) as part of their 101 class entering service in 1960. No.107 was withdrawn from service when the railway closed in 1975. After which it was stored at the back of the Cline town carriage works in Freetown where it languished with other pieces of rolling stock.[1][2][3]

The workshops' collection was feared to have been scrapped during the Sierra Leone civil war from 1991 to 2002. After this the works were viewed by Colonel Steve Davies who with the support of the Sierra Leonean government and the National Railway Museum of the United Kingdom established the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum in 2005. No.107 is currently on display having been statically restored to high cosmetic standards.[1][2][3]
