Locomotive Wiki

The Lok 2000 series are high-tech, passenger electric locomotives built in Switzerland by Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works (SLM) for Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB; English: Swiss Federal Railways) 1991–2003. The series comprises of four classes: the Swiss Class Re 460, the more powerful Swiss Class Re 465, the Norwegian Class El 18 and the Finnish Class Sr2. All have very similar specifications. Hong Kong's Kowloon-Canton Railway Commission (KCRC) operates two Re 460s for their KTT service. The class Re 465 is only operated by Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon railway (BLS) of Switzerland. The Lok 2000s are best known for their quiet operation.
