No.1 is a 18 inch Gauge model tender steam locomotive.

History[]

No.1 was built by students at the Royal Polytechnic Institution (now the University of Westminster) in 1898 with parts provided by W. G. Bagnall. No.1 was built to a Gauge of 18 inches and modelled after the real No.1 a GNR Stirling Single. It was sold to Mr.E.F.S. Notter the Great Northern Railway's (GNR) Locomotive Superintendent at King's Cross. In 1926 No.1 was purchased to the Fairbourne Railway and was sold again to the Jaywick Miniature Railway in 1936 and No.1 operated there until 1939 when it was sold to a number of private owners until being sold to the World of Country Life Museum at Sandy Bay in Exmouth, Devon in 1986. Currently the locomotive is stored at the Wind Mill Farm Railway and for sale at an unconfirmed price on Preston Services in Bad Condition.
