D&RGW No. 340 is a C-19 class 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type narrow gauge steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA in 1881 for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad (D&RG), later known as the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW). It was sold in 1952 to the Knott's Berry Farm amusement park in Buena Park, CA and has run at the park ever since. Its close relative, D&RGW 346 is a resident at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, CO. It runs when RGS 41 is undergoing maintenance. As of today, it remains operational at the Knott's Berry Farm amusement park and operates trains on the Ghost Town & Calico Railroad. It will soon be rejoined by RGS 41, as its major overhaul was recently completed at the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNG) in Durango, CO as of November 16, 2023. But in January 2024, it too was taken out of service and later trucked to Durango, CO to undergo an overhaul like RGS 41 did.
