History[]

Black Prince was built in 1937 by Krupp of Essen, Germany originally for a trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany and was named Fleissiges Leischen (Small Flower in English). After operating a bit at Köln in Germany it was put into storage. In 1976 the locomotive was offered to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway and after arriving was given the name Black Prince which No.10 formerly had before being renamed "Dr. Syn" after No.9 had it's name changed from "Dr. Syn" to "Winston Churchill".
