The Pennsylvania Railroad Class OEW330 was a class of self-propelled railcar that were built by Pullman Company and Westinghouse Electric for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1929.

History[]

In all, two examples of what had became the Pennsylvania Railroad Class OEW330 were ever constructed by the Pullman Company and Westinghouse Electric in 1929, and both of them were delivered to the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Both of them were withdrawn from service and not a single one of the two OEW330 railcars were preserved, they were all scrapped, thus rendering them extinct.

Modifications[]

Main article: Pennsylvania Railroad No. 4663.

In 1941, No. 4663 was modified with streamlining on the front end and became the only doodlebug to ever be streamlined at that time, it was later refitted with a Hamilton 68SA engine in 1944 and continued to serve the branch lines of the system to passengers with the new "shovelnose" design on its front, although the rear end remained conventional.

Trivia[]

  • Although neither of the two examples of the Pennsylvania Railroad Class OEW330 had survived into preservation, three other doodlebugs from different classes of Doodlebug railcars have been preserved.
