Homfray needed a high pressure steam engine to drive a hammer for the Penydarren Ironworks so he commissioned Richard Trevithick to do so.
History[]
With help from engineer Rees Jones he put the engine on wheels to make a locomotive. Richard Trevithick sold the patents of the locomotive to Homfray where the locomotive worked until 1913 when it was scrapped. The locomotive could pull up to 11 tons and 70 men over a span of 4 and half hours.
Trivia[]
