The PKP Class EN56 is a class of electric multiple unit that were built by the VEB Waggonbau Görlitz in East Germany for the Polish State Railways (PKP) between 1955–1957.

History[]

In the mid-to-late 1950s, the Polish State Railways (PKP) needed more electric multiple units for usage on their system, so VEB Waggonbau Görlitz in East Germany, who was tasked on constructing more electric multiple units for Polish State Railways had constructed and delivered 36 examples of what had eventually became the PKP Class EN56, a total of 36 examples were ever constructed by VEB Waggonbau Görlitz in East Germany between 1955–1957 and they were all delivered to the Polish State Railways after they were constructed.

They all entered service after they were constructed between 1955–1957 and they were withdrawn from active service until 1984 and its unknown what happened to them afterwards.
