Oahu Sugar No. 5 on Static Display.

Oahu Sugar No. 5 is an 0-6-2ST Tank Engine it was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1921 for the Oahu Sugar railroad and named "Waikakalua".

It was originally used as a switch engine for the Oahu Sugar railroad.

When the locomotive was retired from service it used to be a public display at the Travel Town museum when it was traded to the LK&P RR along with Oahu RR No. 85 for a Baldwin diesel from the California Western RR plus some streamlined passenger cars.

Today it is currently on static display outside the main station at the Lahaina, Kaanapali and Pacific Railroad on West Maui.

  • It is one of three surviving Oahu Sugar steam engines left in the world.
  • This engine was originally owned by the Waialua Agricultural Company.
  • The engine sustained heavy damage during the 2023 wildfire.
