Nova Scotia Steel & Coal Co. No. 17 was a 2-6-0 "Mogul" type steam locomotive built by Alco in 1903 for the Nova Scotia Steel & Coal Co. as #10 and named "Simon A. Fraser". It was later sold to the Bras d'Or Coal Co. at Broughton, NS.

It sold again to the Old Sydney Collieries and renumbered as #17 then later transferred to the Sydney & Louisburg Railway.

In 1967 it was donated to the Cape Breton Island Miners Museum, but alas was scrapped in 1984 after having disintegrated in the open air, being displayed so close to the Atlantic Ocean for a long time.
