The Norfolk and Western Class O-1 was a single example of a 4-4-0 "American" or "Eight-Wheeler" Steam Locomotive built by the Mason Machine Works for the Atlantic Mississippi & Ohio Railroad in 1873 and it would be transferred to the Norfolk and Western Railway when Atlantic Mississippi & Ohio Railroad was absorbed.
History[]
In the 1870s, the Atlantic Mississippi & Ohio Railroad needed a new locomotive for usage on their trains, so Atlantic Mississippi & Ohio had asked the Mason Machine Works for them to build a new locomotive that they wanted for their trains, so the Mason Machine Works drew up plans and created a 4-4-0 "American" or "Eight-Wheeler" locomotive which came to being as the Class O-1 Numbered #69 and delivered to the Atlantic Mississippi & Ohio Railroad in 1873.
When the Norfolk and Western Railway absorbed the Atlantic Mississippi & Ohio Railroad, No. 69 retained its number 69 and its classification of O-1. Its withdrawal date is unknown, but it was withdrawn from service and scrapped after being withdrawn from service.
