
Nickel Plate Road #776 was a class S-3 2-8-4 "Berkshire" Type Steam Locomotive. It was built in 1949 by the Lima Locomotive Works.
The locomotive spent most of it's life hauling freight trains on the Nickel Plate Road.
It was involved in a head on collision on December 28, 1954 near Dunkirk, NY while double heading a freight train with #770.
In 1958, it was stored and in 1963, it was finally scrapped.
