Locomotive Wiki

New Hope & Ivyland Railroad No. 2198 is an EMD GP30-A type diesel locomotive built by the Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) in 1963 for the Pennsylvania Railroad, originally as their No. 2250.

The locomotive saw service up until 1978 when it was overhauled by its then owners, Conrail. In 1991, it was retired from service. In 1996, it was sold to the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad and moved to New Hope, PA for refurbishment, being put back to work hauling freight and occasionally passengers.

As of today, No. 2198 is still in service pulling passenger cars on regional tours.
