Trivia[]
- The state obtained the tracks and right of way from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1985.
- The museum hosts a 71⁄2 in (190.5 mm) gauge railroad. The miniatures are 1/8th full size and accommodate children and adults easily.
- The tracks to the museum were severed in 2005 by the Nevada Department of Transportation as part of the widening of US 93. As part of the construction of Interstate 11 The Nevada State Railroad Museum, NDOT, and Union Pacific worked with Kiewit Construction Company to build a bridge over Interstate 11 and six miles of track and abandoned right of way was upgraded and replaced. The crossing gates on Old 93 and Dawson Ave were replaced and the old signals were removed and sent to the Nevada Southern Shops.
