Nevada Northern No. 81 in the Shop Under Restoration to Operating Condition

Nevada Northern No. 81 is a 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA in March 1917 for the Nevada Northern Railway at a cost of $23,700. 81 was built for mixed service to haul both freight and passenger trains on the Nevada Northern Railway.

When 81 was retired from service, it was originally donated to the White Pine Public Museum in 1960. It was later restored to operating condition in September 2021 and is now one of three operable steam locomotives on the Nevada Northern, the others being Nos. 40 and 93, the former of which is currently out of service undergoing a complete Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) mandated 1,472-day boiler inspection and overhaul.
