The Nevada Consolidated Copper Company (NCCCo) No. 309 is a 0-4-0ST steam locomotive that was built in January 1913 by H.K. Porter. It was originally built as the Steptoe Valley Smelting and Mining Co. No. 3 but by 1914 the locomotive had been acquired by NCCCo and was renumbered to 309. It was primarily used at the smelter in McGill, NV moving cars throughout the complex.
In 1965 No. 309 was sold to Charles Heimerdinger and was moved to the Pacific Locomotive Association in Richmond, CA in 1968. The locomotive had many modifications made to its appearance while in the possession of the Pacific Locomotive Association to make it look more "western" including raising the cab roof and giving it a balloon stack. It was used on the Niles Canyon Railway until around 2001 before returning back to Nevada.
Today the locomotive resides at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum awaiting restoration work.
