KA 945 is a preserved 4-8-4 steam locomotive in New Zealand it was built in 1939 and entered service in July 1939 and written of in 1967 before being preserved in 1968 by the Southward Car Museum it was later leased to Steam incorporated in 1973 before being officially donated in 1981 it was restored in 1985 and pulled the centennial special in 1985 with JA 1250. KA 945 later went on to pull numerous excursions such as the 1993 "Crunchie Train" until it was withdrawn from excursion service in 1995 and remained in storage until 2014 when work began on overhauling the engine and as of 2024 it is still under an overhaul.
