The Norwegian State Railways 7 (7a) Class (Formerly Norwegian Main Railway D & H Classes) are 0-4-0 saddle tank steam locomotives.

History

The 7 (7a) class are a class of eight saddle tank 0-4-0 locomotives. The class were first introduced for shunting duties in 1875 for the Norwegian Main Railway as their D and H classes. They were built by Manning Wardle and company of England to their F class designs and later Nylands Mechanical Workshop of Oslo, Norway. When the Norwegian State Railways took over the NMR/NHJ the classes became unified into the 7a class. The last was withdrawn in 1964.

Preservation

Two of the class have been preserved them being No.11 and No.25. No.11 is operation on the preserved Krøder line restored and operated by the Norwegian Railway club but owned by the Norwegian State Railways Museum in Hamar. Who also own No.25 which is on display in the museum it's self.
