King Haakon VII (No.377) is a 2-6-0 tender steam locomotive.

History[]

No.377 was built in 1919 by NOHAB of Sweden for the Norwegian State Railways as part of their 21c subclass. It operated on the NSR network until 1969 and eventually left Norway. And went to the Bressingham Steam and Gardens in Norfolk, United Kingdom. In 2014, the locomotive was repainted black for the 2016 film, The Legend of Tarzan and was given new accessories for the film, including a cowcatcher, a diamond smokestack, and a headlamp. After filming in Leavesden completed, the locomotive returned to Bressingham. It is currently awaiting overhaul and is on display in its film condition.[1][2][3][4]

Trivia[]

  • No.377 was named King Haakon VII (a Norwegian King) at Bressingham due to it apparently hauling a royal train. Though this is disputed and is probably a myth.
  • Bressingham crews apparently like the loco due to it's spacious cab.[1][2][3][4]
