Mt Lyell Krauss No.9 is the 9th. or 10th. Krauss to arrive on the railway.

History[]

Mt Lyell Krauss No.9 also known as Krauss No.9 was built in 1908 as works number 5988. Krauss No.9 mainly worked doing shunting until the Mt Lyell railway sold Krauss to the Ida Bay Railway in 1947. Then it was sold again to the Tullah Tramway in 1949. It was preserved on the  Van Diemen Railway Society at Don in 1972. But then went back to Tullah in 1993 also known as the Wee Georgie Wood Steam Railway, The boiler has been removed and is beyond repair. Krauss No.9 is currently still under overhaul.

  • It is the most moved around Krauss from Mt Lyell.
  • Krauss No.9 has no name.
  • Before being preserved it was derelict at Tullah.
  • Even though it has meany owners it retained it's Mt Lyell livery until it was preserved.
