Mt Lyell railway No.5 was the third and last of the Baldwin locomotives to be built for the Mt Lyell Railway.

History[]

Mt Lyell Railway Baldwin No.5 also known as Baldwin No.5 was built in 1887 in a batch of three locomotives with the other two being Baldwin No.3 and Baldwin No.4. It mainly did mineral traffic and shunting it might have been scrapped or sold in 1938 when Abt No.5 arrived.

  • Abt No.5 has no name.
  • It once derailed just before one of the trestle bridges.
