Minnetonka is an 0-4-0 tender-tank steam engine. It was the first engine built for the Northern Pacific Railroad.

History[]

Built in 1870 by the Smith & Porter as locomotive No. 1 in order to help build the Northern Pacific Railroad.

The locomotive was later operated at various logging railroads in Washington estate as late as 1928.

It was reacquired by the Northern Pacific railroad in 1933, and the locomotive was even operated at various World's Fairs.

Today the locomotive sits on static display at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth, MN.
